I began writing Yinka, Where is your Huzband? when I was in my twenties and feeling the pressure to settle down. My mum (bless her) in subtle and less subtle ways, would ask me when I’d planned on getting married, as though all I needed to do was say, ‘Hold on. Let me check my calendar.’ Many of my friends were in the same boat, and as you can imagine, social media didn’t help.

So, I decided to use my experience as inspiration to write a story of a British Nigerian woman, searching for love in today’s relationship-obsessed society. What started off as a short blog post, evolved over many years into a novel. And that’s how Yinka, Where is your Huzband? was birthed. Originally, a fun thing to do, it soon became a passion, a strong calling in my heart, to give voice to so many women who are united by this universal experience.

I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but I’m sure there will be plentiful moments that you’ll nod and snap your fingers to! I’m super excited for you to meet Yinka, her ride-or-die friends, her overbearing mum, and her loving but interfering aunties (and trust me, there are many.) My hope as an author is that she’ll leave a lasting impression on your life, as she has mine.

Best wishes and stay blessed.
